Envisage are proud to partner with the WMG Academy for Young Engineers to support young talent entering the industry.
T-Level Placement
In June 2024 we welcomed a student for a 4-week placement as part of their T-Level qualification. The student gained experience as part of the Envisage team, working with our engineering team and our Computer Aided Design team. T-levels are a new technical qualification designed to prepare young people for work. The courses teach students the skills employers need as well as providing invaluable insights into working in the industry.
2023 Student Work Experience
We welcomed 2 students for work experience who were inspired by a presentation from Envisage representatives during a visit to the Coventry site. They worked together on an automotive CMF project which was presented to the team at the end of the 2 weeks, the presentation was insightful and showed how much they understood in a short timeframe. Work experience not only supports industry knowledge, but also essential soft skills such as presentation, communication, and working within a team.
National Manufacturing Day
Our relationship continued with a visit from the academy for the Make UK National Manufacturing Day 2023 when we welcomed 30 students from the Coventry and Solihull sites of the academy. They were given a tour of our facilities giving an overview of what we do and students an understanding of otherwise unexplored areas such as Trim and CMF.
What is the WMG Academy?
The WMG Academy for Young Engineers encourages young people to study STEM subjects. They work with a multitude of companies like Envisage to give invaluable opportunities and a career-led education. Through their ethos “business-like, business-led”, they prepare new generations of young people for working in the industry.
Along with preparing students for the workplace, the Academy also invests in their technical knowledge. Facilities include large workbench areas, metalworking space, and electronics labs, allowing for practical learning. Recently, the Coventry site has invested £250,000 in its CNC area with a new machine enabling larger pieces to be manufactured.
Envisage have previously presented to the Solihull and Coventry academies, encouraging young people to consider engineering and design as a career.
Supporting the Future
Envisage will continue to support the WMGA by offering work experience and T-Level placements, as well as supporting young people from other academia. This includes an internship within our CMF team for student Jelena Labudovic from Coventry University’s Automotive and Transport Design course, and Tyler Coniff our Trim Apprentice.
