On the 28th of September, Envisage opened its doors for National Manufacturing Day 2023, allowing the public behind the scenes access. Throughout the day we welcomed a wide range of visitors including students from multiple schools and universities, allowing them to gain an invaluable insight into the wide range of careers this industry has to offer.
The tour started with a show-and-tell, visitors were able to interact with our various departments through their displays and speak with Alex, who joined as a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Apprentice; Tyler, our Trim Development Apprentice; and Alicia, our Junior Colour, Materials and Finish (CMF) Designer, who started as CMF intern. The tour then led them through the CMF studio, Electronic Development, Trim Studio and Paint Development where they were able to get an informative demonstration from experts, learn about their roles within the business and the collective contribution they make to our bespoke projects.
To end the tour, attendees were able to visit a build workshop to see some modification work on a Supercar and some maintenance work on a show car. This allowed them to see how the skills from the show-and-tell were implemented.
Rebecca Archer, Business Engagement & Student Destinations Manager, WMG Academy for Young Engineers – Solihull, commented “The opportunity for students from WMG Academy Trust to visit Envisage makes a phenomenal impact on their understanding of careers within the Engineering sector. Being able to ask questions and explore the different facets of Envisage meant students could widen their gaze by having meaningful interactions with professionals from Envisage.”

I was particularly interested in learning about CMF as I hadn’t heard of it before. I made a LinkedIn connection with Alicia from CMF and had a conversation with her about her journey from A-levels to her role in Envisage.”
