The Frame: Where Craftsmanship Meets Aesthetics
The bespoke frame for the seat was manufactured completely by hand by our team of skilled metal formers utilising traditional methods. It was then powder coated in a cool, metal grey, chosen by our CMF team, to complement the trim materials of the seat. They specified a matte finish that can achieve a satin finish from powder coating. This, combined with the contemporary design, creates a sleek, modern, high-end finish appreciative of the automotive.
Trim: The Apprentices Craft
Transforming this automotive seat, our Trim Apprentice, Tyler Conniff, has turned it into something stylish for the home, whilst still honoring automotive design. With a focus on precision, Tylers pattern development process was meticulous, with a test cover being made to ensure the patterns were millimeter perfect for the final fit. The seat was trimmed using leather, Alcantara, and perforated leather, in black and white, utilising top sew stitches and twin stitching, giving the seat a clean, monochromatic finish.
Investing in Future Generations
Investing in a trim apprenticeship program has been key for the Trim Studio and acknowledging this skills gap by supporting young talent will ensure the trim trade can continue. Being a niche, highly skilled trade, it cannot be self-taught and requires hands-on experience.
Envisage’s in-house Trim Studio is well placed to offer this with Tyler being supported by our in-house Trim team which has over 85 years of combined experience across a multitude of industries. Their specialist expertise and exceptional craftsmanship will ensure young trimmers like Tyler can become part of the best the industry has to offer.
